About Us

Rotary is an international organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarian’s belong to more than 34,000 Rotary clubs.

Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community’s business and professional men and women. The world’s Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.

The Rotary motto is Service Above Self. The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

Rotary in Colonial Park

The Rotary Club of Colonial Park (club 5335) was formed in 1951 with William H Peters, Jr. serving as the first club president.

The club meets for lunch each Wednesday and averages 85 to 100 members from local businesses, organizations and government agencies.

Advancement of our local students.

During the school year, a student from Central Dauphin HS, Central Dauphin East HS and Dauphin County Technical School is honored each month as a Rotary Student of the Month.

The proceeds from our annual Golf Tournament provide two year scholarships at Harrisburg Area Community College to a student from each of the schools who would not otherwise be able to attend college.

The Colonial Park Rotary Foundation is actively working with donors to establish additional scholarship opportunities for our local students.

Club members are also very active in District 7390’s Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. For more on RYLA, Click Here.

Service to the Colonial Park Community

Club members volunteer their services to build and repair parks and playgrounds in the community. They also serve as “Bell Ringers” during the Salvation Army’s Christmas fundraising campaign.

Members coordinate with local organizations that organize food drives, toy drives, clothing drives etc. in support of our Colonial Park neighbors.

Club members also donate each year to the club’s Community Giving Fund which provides grants to local organizations who provide direct services within our community.

National Service

As the need arises, the Rotary Club of Colonial Park sponsors members to travel to a disaster area somewhere in the United States to help rebuild a home or an addition for a family affected by the disaster.

Rotary Club of Colonial Park members have travelled to Austell, Georgia to repair homes damaged by the flooding; to Swan Quarter, NC to help rebuild a home damaged by Hurricane Irene and to Atlantic City, NJ to repair homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
