WHAT IS IT?
Rotary Youth Leadership Conference is a five day conference held at Messiah College in Grantham PA. The conference provides the opportunity to refine leadership skills and techniques to already leaders in their respective school and community through simulations and challenge courses. The conference provides opportunites for students to interact with current adult leaders who share effective leadershp styles, and vocations. It provides for students the opportunity to part of community service.

WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE?
To inspect the qualities of leadership and its importance to our society.
To gain a better understanding of the changing roles of today’s youth in tomorrow’s world
To explore professional and vocational career opportunities.
To provide a climate for personal growth through association with previously unknown but like-minded and success-oriented contemporaries.
To provide an atmosphere where the people, the concepts and the activities come together to nurture and stimulate heightened consciousness of self, society, and the future.

HOW IS THIS ACCOMPLISHED?
Group discussion of leadership characteristics.
Teambuilding activities
Leadership simulations and challenge course
Exposure to successful business and professional men and women and their views.
Round table contact sessions with successful career people concerning vocational opportunities.
Exercise of leadership and cooperative training through recreation and athletic activities.
Lecture/discussions on contemporary problems.

ACTIVITIES AT CONFERENCE
Daily Seminars and Programs — Fun and motivational seminars, leadership simulations,challenge course, teambuilding activities and well qualified speakers
Career Exploration — Presentations by leaders in selected professions and vocational fields (2004 presenters represented Architecture, Aviation, Banking, Business Retailing, Computer Sciences, Education, Electronics & Telecommunications, Engineering, Funeral Directing, Hotel Management, Insurance Management, Journalism, Law, Marketing, Medicine, Military Services, Municipal Government, Nonprofit Organization, Psychology, Real Estate, Speech Pathology, Stock Brokering, Veterinary Medicine.)
Special Activities — Athletics, Band, Chorus, Talent Show, Swimming
Special Thursday Evening Programs — Parent and Rotarians Dinner; singing by Conference Chorus, and music by the Conference Band, awards presentation to eight outstanding conferees and two outstanding finalists.

QUALIFICATIONS
Young men and women who will be entering their senior year in high school, who demonstrate academic excellence, demonstrate leadership qualities in school activities, and demonstrate leadership in community activities.
Applications for RYLA 2016 will be available on-line beginnning January 2016.

This event is sponsored by Rotary Clubs of Rotary International District 7390. Approximately 120 Juniors selected by 49 Rotary Clubs throughout South Central Pennsylvania attend this conference. Expenses are paid by the students’ local Rotary Club including tuition, meals, speakers, equipment and conference personnel.
